My friend Joyce Meyer

Just a little blurb on one of today's many famous preachers for my brothers and sisters (and anyone else interested) on the web.

Looks can be deceiving when it comes to today's televangelists. In Mark 7:18 Jesus said, "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit." Many things that Joyce Meyer espouses on television and on the Internet have little or no basis in the bible. Like many Pentecostals, Meyer teaches the doctrine of "generational curses.". She claims that curses pass from one generation to another (i.e. from a father to a son or a mother to a daughter). She says in her preaching titled "Trophies of Grace" that a "spirit of incest" has been passed down through her family bloodline. So if your father was a pedophile you will be cursed with the same sin. If we take a look at the word of God we find the bible doesn't teach this at all. Subsequent generations can bear the burden of the consequences of sin but we can't pass on curses through our DNA. In Ezekiel 18:20 it reads, "The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him." We all have original sin passed to us from Adam and Eve, but we can't get rid of that unless we die. No matter how much we pray. Of course Joyce Meyer and many of these so called faith preachers have the exact prescription of spiritual mysticism to take away these so called curses. Just send them a fat little check. (They can also help you get that BMW for just a little extra.) It's even more ludicrous to think a Christian needs to rid himself of these so called "curses" after the regeneration of our souls by the holy spirit and the work Christ performed on the cross. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 it says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

She also teaches ( and I am in no way saying she qualifies as a teacher) that not only did Jesus die on the cross but was subsequently tortured in Hell by none other than Satan himself. So not only did Christ suffer and die for your sins on the cross but had to be tortured for your sin in hell before God resurrected him Sunday morning ( she said it, I didn't). This story is not only not found in scripture, it goes against what the son of God himself tells us in the bible. In John 19:30 we read "When He had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit." Jesus Christ himself declared to us his redemptive work was "finished" on the cross. If he then had to go to hell to suffer than the cross obviously wasn't enough and we are talking about a different God; not the one taught in scripture. Besides all of this Jesus wouldn't be suffering in the right place since our ultimate punishment (without being saved) is the lake of fire and that does not exist yet (God establishes it after the 1000 year millennial reign of Christ. Read: Revelation 20:14 and 15). There is a place called Hades, but don't confuse it with the lake of fire. It's a vacation to Disney world compared to the lake of fire.

These are just two of the many unbiblical (and heretical) teachings Joyce Meyer and her friends (I'm looking your way Mr. Hinn and Mr. Osteen) teach on a regular basis. I don't mean to offend but to instruct and admonish as the Apostle Paul calls us to do. We're living in the last days people and I don't want any of you worrying about "generational curses" or how much money God can give us. We should be worrying about the lost and what we can do to advance the kingdom of God. If you don't know Jesus all you have to do is believe that he came to earth, lived a sinless life, and died for your sins. All that is required is your faith and the Holy Spirit will do the rest.

If you have any questions feel free to send me a message. If you like what you read I might do this again and make it a regular thing. Then again if you were totally offended by this I might want to do it more. Anyways, God bless you all.
